What is dynamic vs saver pricing?

When you book flights with miles, award seats generally fall into two categories:

✈️ Saver (Fixed-price) awards

These:

  • Cost a set, predictable number of miles
  • Are often the only type bookable through partner programs
  • Usually offer the best value

Example:

Avianca LifeMiles can only book saver space on United and most partners.

💸 Dynamic awards

These:

  • Change price based on demand (like cash fares)
  • Can be reasonable… or extremely expensive
  • Often flood search results with high-priced awards

Example:

Delta SkyMiles frequently shows very high dynamic prices.

How seats.aero handles this

We want your search results and alerts to stay useful.

✔️ Saver awards

Always shown.

✔️ Dynamic awards

Shown only if the price is within a reasonable threshold.

If the price is extremely high, we hide it automatically so your results aren’t buried in noise.

Our dynamic-price filter thresholds

We compare the award cost to the flight time. If an award is higher than the limit below, it won’t appear on seats.aero.

Mileage Program Economy Premium Economy Business First
Aeromexico Club Premier 10,000/hr (max 10h) 15,000/hr 20,000/hr
Air Canada Aeroplan 7,500/hr 10,000/hr 12,500/hr 15,000/hr
Air France/KLM Flying Blue 5,000/hr 10,000/hr 15,000/hr 15,000/hr
Alaska Mileage Plan <150k <150k <150k <150k
American Airlines <100k <100k <150k <200k
Delta SkyMiles 10,000/hr 15,000/hr 20,000/hr
Etihad Guest 10,000/hr (max 10h) 15,000/hr 20,000/hr
United MileagePlus 7,500/hr 10,000/hr 14,000/hr 20,000/hr (max 10h)
JetBlue TrueBlue 10,000/hr 15,000/hr 20,000/hr
Qantas Frequent Flyer* 7,500/hr 10,000/hr 20,000/hr 25,000/hr

Notes:

  • Flight hours are rounded down and based on block time (not connection time).
  • With Qantas, only Classic Plus uses dynamic thresholds. Classic Rewards always show.

How to show all dynamic award prices (disable filtering)

By default, seats.aero hides extremely expensive results.

If you want to see everything — even the overpriced awards — you can disable this filter in two places:

Option 1: Turn it off in Settings

Go to Settings → Preferences, then scroll to Search and toggle Disable Dynamic Filtering.

This will show all dynamically-priced awards in every search.

Option 2: Turn it off per-search (Advanced Filters)

In the Search page, open Advanced filters and toggle Show all dynamic results.

This applies only to that specific search.

Why this matters

Dynamic pricing can inflate award costs dramatically.

Our filter keeps your searches:

  • cleaner
  • more relevant
  • and focused on deals that are actually worth booking

But you’re always in control — and can turn dynamic filtering off anytime.
