Why can’t I book this flight with my miles?

Seats.aero helps you find award availability, but sometimes you may see a flight in our search results that you can’t actually book with your miles. Here are the most common reasons why.

1. Partner vs. Airline Rules

Not all award seats are shared equally between airlines.

  • Example: Lufthansa may release business class seats to its own members but not to partners like United.
  • Even if you see the flight in our tool, it may not be available through your program.

2. No Saver Space

Some airlines only allow partner bookings on “saver” level awards. If only standard awards are available, you won’t be able to book with your miles.

3. Credit Card or Status Perks

Extra award space is sometimes held back for:

  • Members with airline status
  • Holders of that airline’s credit card

If you don’t meet those conditions, you may not be able to book.

4. Booking Window Differences

Airlines open their calendars at different times. Some carriers allow bookings 330+ days out, while others open much later. If you’re too early, your miles program might not yet have access.

5. Technical or Display Quirks

Seats.aero pulls results from multiple sources. Sometimes availability shown in our tool updates faster (or slower) than the airline’s site. Checking directly with the airline is the best way to confirm.

What to Do Next

  • Try searching again with another partner airline’s program.
  • Check the airline’s own site for availability.
  • Adjust your dates or cabins — flexibility helps.
