How do alerts work?

One of the best features of Seats.aero is the ability to create unlimited flight alerts. Alerts help you track award space for routes that are harder to book.

Airlines often re-release award seats when bookings are canceled, or open up more seats as departure gets closer if they aren’t selling for cash. These changes can happen at any time, and alerts make sure you don’t miss them.

How alerts work

  • Our system checks availability 24/7.
  • Once your alert criteria are met, we notify you right away via email, push notification, or SMS (if enabled).
  • Alerts use the same live data you see on Seats.aero.

Pro features

Pro members don’t get alerts faster than free users, but they do get more control:

  • Advanced filters (e.g. direct flights only, specific carriers, max points/fees).
  • SMS alerts in addition to email.
  • Easier alert management (cancel, edit, bulk-manage).
  • Pre-filled alert forms (no captcha).
  • Specific-date alerts that refresh availability more frequently.

Continuous vs. one-off alerts

  • One-off alerts (default): Trigger only if a flight isn’t currently available. Example: A Delta flight costs 90k points today. You can set an alert for it at ≤89k points, and we’ll notify you if the price drops.
  • Continuous alerts (Pro): Stay active until the departure date passes. Great for tracking new availability or price drops, but can generate more notifications.

Tips for continuous alerts

  • Use filters like “direct only” or “max points/fees” to keep notifications relevant.
  • Install the Seats.aero iOS or Android app to get push notifications (SMS is not supported for continuous alerts).
  • For time-sensitive trips, one-off alerts are usually better since they refresh more frequently.
