How do alerts work?
One of the best features of Seats.aero is the ability to create an unlimited amount of flight alerts. Alerts can help you find space for itineraries that are harder to book.
For example, airlines sometimes re-release award space when existing award bookings are cancelled. As a flight comes closer to its departure date, airlines also release more award space when they realize that they will not sell the seats with cash fares. When these events occur depends on each airline and can be completely random.
Alerts rapidly check our data 24/7 to see if they have found you a flight. Once we find availability for your alert, we notify you immediately via email, push notifications, and/or SMS. Alerts use the same data that is visible on Seats.aero.
Pro features
Pro users do not receive alerts any faster than normal users. However, there are a few additional features that Pro users have access to:
- Advanced filters, such as only triggering the alert when there is direct availability, or when there is a specific carrier available.
- Receive SMS alerts for your flight alerts, in addition to email alerts.
- Manage or cancel all of your existing flight alerts.
- Pre-filled forms when creating alerts without a captcha.
- Specific date alerts created by Pro users check the airline more often for availability.
Users always receive alerts at the same time, regardless of membership or subscription. If we discover new availability from a Pro alert, the alert is also sent at the same time to any other alerts for that flight/route.
Continuous alerts
By default, alerts are "one-off alerts" and can only be created for flights that are not currently available. For example, if a Delta flight is currently available for 90,000 points, you can only create a one-off alert for it if you specify a max points filter of 89,000 points or below.
Pro users can create continuous alerts that never expire unless the departure date has passed. Continuous alerts let you know when flights become available that were previously unavailable, or when existing flights drop in price. These alerts are more flexible but can also send you a lot of notifications! Here are some tips:
- Use the direct only, max points, or max fees filters when creating continuous alerts to keep the notifications relevant to what you are searching for.
- Install our iOS or Android app and login to receive push notifications for continuous alerts, as SMS is not supported for these alerts.
- Continuous alerts may refresh data with the mileage program less often. For important trips on specific dates, use one-off alerts!
