Getting started with seats.aero

seats.aero helps you find and track award flight availability using your points or miles across dozens of airlines and loyalty programs.

If you’ve ever thought,

“There has to be a better way to find award seats…”

you’re in the right place.

You can use seats in two main ways:

✈️ 1. Start with a Search

Head to the Search page and enter:

  • Where you’re flying from
  • Where you want to go (or a whole region like “Europe”)
  • Your dates
  • Cabin (Economy, Business, First)

👉 You’re not searching flights like Google Flights.

You’re searching award availability across different programs.

That’s where the real value is.

🔎 2. Scan the Results

You’ll see:

  • Routes and airlines
  • Points required
  • Which program you can book through

Click into a result to see:

  • Exact flight options
  • Different pricing depending on the program

👉 You’ll book directly with the airline or loyalty program, not on seats.aero.

🎯 3. Refine with Filters

This is where things get powerful.

You can filter by:

  • Cabin (Business / First)
  • Max points
  • Programs (focus on ones where you have points, or use the transfer partner filter to show programs compatible with your credit cards)
  • Stops, airlines, and more

👉 If results disappear, your filters are probably too strict. Try loosening them.

🌍 4. Explore (if you’re flexible)

Not sure exactly where or when you want to go? Use Explore:

  • Browse routes by region
  • Spot unusually cheap redemptions
  • Get inspired by what’s actually available

👉 This is how people find some of the best deals.

🔔 5. Set Alerts (the real secret)

If you don’t see what you want right away, don’t keep refreshing.

Set an alert with the key details:

  • Your route
  • Cabin
  • Programs
  • Date range

You can choose:

👉 The best flights usually aren’t found

they’re caught.

⚠️ How to Think About Results (Important)

seats.aero searches award availability across different loyalty programs, not a single system.

That means:

  • The same flight may appear in one program but not another
  • Some airlines release more seats to their own members than to partners
  • Prices can vary significantly depending on how you book

👉 If you don’t see something, it doesn’t always mean it doesn’t exist

it may just not be available through that program.

⏳ Timing Matters

Award seats change constantly:

  • Some are released far in advance
  • Some show up last minute
  • Some disappear quickly

👉 If you’re looking for something specific, alerts are your best bet.

🛠 If Something Looks Off

seats.aero refreshes data frequently, and occasionally things may behave a little unexpectedly.

You might see:

  • Results changing after a refresh
  • Filters behaving differently than expected
  • Temporary display glitches

If that happens:

  • Refresh the page
  • Double-check your filters
  • Rerun the search

👉 In most cases, it’s temporary.

If something consistently looks wrong, feel free to reach out. We’re happy to take a closer look.

💡 Example Flow

Looking for business class to Europe:

  1. Search: USA → Europe
  2. Filter to Business class
  3. Check which programs you can book with
  4. Set an alert if nothing works yet
